Use of Energy
The idea at Hesburger has always been to minimize the need for purchased energy. That is why we are constantly working to reduce energy consumption. We construct the most energy-efficient buildings possible and adopt in-house solutions for producing renewable energy.
No Wasted Heat
Almost all Hesburger restaurants operating on premises owned by the company are equipped with heat recovery systems that reduce the amount of energy required for heating. Ventilation directs warm indoor air into the heat recovery unit, where the heat is captured and used to warm the incoming air. At the same time, direct electric heating has been replaced in restaurants with air-to-water heat pumps, among other things.
Hesburger’s central warehouse, Hes-Pro in Kaarina, has a heat pump system in use. Most of the refrigeration units are also connected to the CO₂ system at the same central warehouse. In the future, we will utilize condensation heat and an electric steam boiler.
Energy-Efficient Equipment
Many of the appliances used in Hesburger’s kitchens are the result of in-house product development. This development is driven by our desire to use energy-efficient appliances that are tailor-made for their intended purposes. For example, the option of setting equipment to an eco-mode reduces energy consumption during quiet hours. Thanks to these appliances, the energy demand of new restaurants has decreased significantly.
