Interview: Marko Salmela, Marketing and Design Director
The ideas for Hesburger’s responsible practices come from working closely with our personnel and partners – and from keeping an eye open for new innovations in everyday life. I constantly think about how some new idea could be applied at Hesburger.
We are continuously developing our packaging materials for increasing environmental friendliness. Over the years, we have successfully reduced and lightened our packaging, leading to a significant reduction in packaging waste. Our goal is to increasingly shift towards biodegradable materials, which is an important objective for us. Long-term recycling efforts also extend to workwear. Our uniforms utilize recycled materials, durable manufacturing methods, and new innovations from the clothing industry.
In 2019, our new plant protein factory was completed in Kaarina. This major effort helps us continue developing our own plant-based products. In this way, we can offer our customers an even wider range of veggie options alongside products containing meat.
We truly want to do the right things in a responsible way. I strongly believe we are moving in the right direction.
