Waste Sorting at Hesburger

Food preparation, customer service, and product distribution at Hesburger restaurants generate different types of waste streams, all of which the company recycles appropriately. Hesburger has continued its effective waste sorting, keeping different types and qualities of waste separate to prepare them for reuse, recycling, or other treatment.

Hesburger follows the GRI 306 Waste 2020 reporting standard, which supports restaurant-level waste separation and recycling. Recyclable and separated waste types include biowaste, cardboard, plastic packaging, metal, glass, clear plastic film, and frying oil.

We work closely with packaging and waste management experts to recycle packaging materials as efficiently as possible. We also actively promote waste sorting in our customer areas. We already have 40 restaurants with waste sorting stations, and we are adding more as we renovate or open new restaurants. Waste sorting in restaurant kitchens and our central warehouse is already at an excellent level.
