A Fair Cup of Coffee

Most Hesburger restaurants serve Paulig Mundo Original coffee, which is an organic, Fairtrade-certified coffee blend. It is roasted in a carbon-neutral roastery, using responsibly and organically grown arabica coffee beans. The gently roasted flavour carries notes of dark sugar and honey.

Carbon-Neutral Coffee Goodness for All

Paulig Mundo Original is roasted at a carbon-neutral roastery in Vuosaari, Helsinki and its packaging is made of renewable raw materials. Its climate emissions are compensated by supporting forest projects in the coffee’s countries of origin. These projects are certified under the CarbonNeutral® Standard.

All Paulig coffee is of verified responsible origin; in other words, the coffee is either sourced through Paulig’s partnership programmes or certified for responsibility. Paulig roasts 370 billion responsible coffee beans a year. If you were to line them up, the row of coffee beans would go around the Earth 68 times.

Fairtrade

  • The Fairtrade label indicates that the production of the raw ingredients complies with international fairtrade criteria and is socially, economically, and ecologically sustainable.
  • Fairtrade farmers are paid at least a guaranteed price to cover the costs of production that is sustainable for the environment and people alike.
  • In addition to this, a Fairtrade bonus is paid for projects that bring progress to the whole community. This system has therefore been created to improve the international trade position of small farmers and farm workers in developing countries.
  • At present, Fairtrade includes some 800,000 coffee farmers, or about 3.5% of all coffee farmers in the world.

Organic Coffee

  • Organic coffee is made from organically grown coffee beans.
  • The idea is to produce products using production processes that are not harmful to the environment or the well-being of humans, animals, or plants.
  • In production, the use of authorized additives and processing aids has been restricted to only what is necessary.
  • The production and marketing of organic products in Finland are controlled by the Finnish Food Authority, ELY Centres, Valvira, the municipalities, and Customs.
  • For Paulig coffee, the Organic certificate and the Fairtrade certificate always occur together for assurance that both environmental and social responsibility have been taken into account.
